Get your skin ready for summer!

What causes body acne?

Body acne is caused by the same factors that trigger facial acne, namely overactive oil glands, excess oils and dead skin cells, and a proliferation of acne-causing bacteria.

How can you prevent body acne?

  • Don't over-exfoliate: Scrubbing too often and too vigorously can overdry your skin and prompt your sebaceous glands to produce more oil, subsequently leading to more breakouts. Also, harsh physical exfoliators can irritate and cause inflammation to the delicate skin in the neck and décolleté area.

  • Change your bed linens more often: Germs, bacteria and dead skin cells from your hands and body get transferred to your duvets and pillows. If you struggle with persistent body breakouts, you should change your sheets once a week and your pillow cases once or twice a week.

  • Avoid tight gym clothes: Tight clothes and synthetic materials trap in sweat and dirt and rub them against your skin, creating a perfect breeding ground for acne-causing bacteria. To minimise the risk of breakouts, wear loose, breathable clothes that keep your skin cool and dry.

What skincare should I use?

  • To keep skin clean and hydrated

ZO Dual Action Scrub is formulated with salicylic acid and tea tree extract that attacks acne-causing bacteria while jojoba oil soothes the skin and helps retain its natural moisture.

  • To get rid of spots fast

Blemishbright is a fast-acting spot treatment for rapid relief from acne lesions and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Formulated with a high concentration of salicylic acid, Blemishbright quickly reduces irritation and improves the appearance of inflamed acne spots. It is also enhanced with skin brighteners that target post-acne dark spots and prevent new pigment formation.
