Autumn Skin

The days are getting shorter, temperatures are dropping and the air is becoming drier. Autumn has officially arrived! 

 

 

 

But while cosy jumpers, pumpkin spiced everything and hot chocolates might be on the horizon, the cooler climes don’t necessarily mean good news for your skin. 

Autumn brings cooler weather and a drop in humidity, which makes for dry, stale air and even drier skin. As a time of transition, autumn is the best time to rejuvenate and repair your skin by correcting any summer damage and preparing your complexion for winter.To keep your skin in great condition, here are four tips to prevent autumnal skin problems.

 

Try a thicker moisturiser

Say goodbye to the lightweight, oil free moisturiser you’ve been slathering on all summer. For those with oily skin, applying a heavy cream can feel a little too much but you can still benefit from additional moisturising come winter. Instead of skipping it altogether look for a light, oil-free formula.

 

 

Add a rich body lotion to the mix

When summer humidity ends, the skin may start to feel dry and itchy, as there is much less moisture in the air to help hydrate, plus the drying effects of central heating. The easiest way to maintain skin  hydration from head to toe is a good body lotion or body butter. Moisturisers provide a protective barrier over the skin, allowing it to retain hydration and to also draw in hydration to the outer skin layer. 

 

 

 

Cut back on exfoliating

The effects of the suns rays combined with the onset of cold weather can leave you with dry, chapped lips so investing in the right lip balm is key.
